How does scanning a food label work?

Scanning a food today means taking a photo of its nutrition label, not scanning a barcode. Line the label up in the framing guide and tap the shutter, then confirm the photo to submit it. Platify checks the label and tries to add the product, so there's no need to wait around: tap Log it now to search and log the food straight away while the scan processes.

What does scanning actually capture?

A photo of the nutrition information panel. There isn't a separate barcode scanner yet, so scanning is about reading the printed numbers on the label, not a product code.

What if my camera won't open?

If camera access is off, a card explains it and offers to open Settings, with an option to enter the food manually instead so you're never stuck.

What happens after I submit a scan?

Your scan moves through statuses you can check under My scans: Waiting to upload, Checking your label, Being added, and finally Added, with a Find it link. If the photo couldn't be read, it shows Couldn't read this one so you can retake it or log manually.

Can I use it while offline?

Yes. An offline scan is saved on your phone and uploads automatically once you're back online, so nothing is lost.

Do I need Premium to scan?

No. Scanning a nutrition label is available on the free plan.
