How do I sync my weight from Apple Health?

By the Platify team

During setup on an iPhone, tap Connect Apple Health and approve the prompt. Platify then reads your weight from Apple Health, iOS-only, so your targets can stay current without a manual weigh-in every time. Steps and activity are never read; weight is the only signal Platify takes from Apple Health. The same prompt also asks permission to save the weigh-ins you log in Platify back to Apple Health, so your weight history stays in one place.

Why does Platify only read my weight?

Weight is the one signal that feeds your targets, so it is the only thing Platify asks Apple Health for. Steps and active energy are left out on purpose, even though Apple Health tracks them, to keep the request as narrow as what Platify actually uses.

What if I have an Android phone?

Apple Health only exists on iOS, so this sync is not available on Android. You log your weight manually instead, using the same weigh-in flow.

Does Platify write anything back to Apple Health?

Yes, one thing: the weigh-ins you log in Platify are saved back to Apple Health, so your weight history stays in one place whichever app you open. Nothing else is ever written, and a weight that came from Apple Health in the first place is never written back.

If you would rather Platify did not save anything, turn off write access for Platify in the Health app, under Sharing. Reading your weight keeps working.

Can I remove a weigh-in that came from Apple Health?

Not from inside Platify. Deleting it here would not stick, because it returns on the next sync. Delete the entry in the Health app instead, and it stops syncing across. A weigh-in that already synced stays in your Platify history.

What if I skipped this during setup?

Choosing Not now during setup skips the connection and requests nothing from Apple Health. You can still log your weight manually at any time.

Frequently asked

Does Platify read my steps or workouts from Apple Health?

No. Weight is the only Apple Health data Platify reads. Steps and activity are deliberately left out.

Is Apple Health sync available on Android?

No. Apple Health only exists on iOS, so this sync is iOS-only. Android users log their weight manually instead.
